Let's get this out of the way: Genshin Impact and its beautiful, expansive anime world of Teyvat clearly draw inspiration from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and I mean a whole heck of a lot. From the art style to the stamina-based "climb anything" mechanic to the gliding, it’s impossible not to be reminded of Link’s open-world adventures in Hyrule while exploring. But this isn't just some copycat, as Genshin Impact's fantastical world, wide array of diverse playable characters, and deep RPG systems are all unique and awesome enough to let it stand on its own two feet – and every one of the more than 120 hours I've spent in Teyvat has been an absolute blast.


Genshin Impact is a free-to-play action-adventure RPG where you play a vague and mysterious “traveler” from another world who arrives in the land of Teyvat before being attacked by a sorceress or God or...something, and your twin is captured. After waking up on a beach at level one and with zero loot, you set off on a quest to find your lost sibling.

The pre-installation function for the Version 1.3 update will be available for open testing on both mobile and PC platforms. Pre-Installation Function Available Starting: 2021-02-01 11:00:00 (Before updating to Version 1.3, UTC+8) Travelers on PC can still play the game while pre-installing game resources. Pre-installation will take up a certain amount of your network's bandwidth, so it's best to make sure you have a good network connection before beginning pre-installation. Travelers on mobile platforms will be unable to play the game while pre-installing game resources.   Genshin Impact version 1.3 pre-installation begins next week Mihoyo has revealed that pre-installation for Genshin Impact version 1.3 will begin on February 1. Pre-installation is a new feature for the title, and allows you to save time when the update launches as you can download prior to the servers going down. There are two methods available to make sure your game pre-installs as soon as possible. The first option is heading over to the Paimon Menu in-game, pressing ‘Other’, then checking the ‘Pre-Install Resource Package’ option. You’re also able to press the ‘Pre-Install Resource Package’ icon which can be found on the bottom left corner of the login screen.
